How many plants do I need?
Work out the area in square metres and multiply by the planting density. Young plants in 9 cm pots spread to knit together, usually within one to two growing seasons. The figures below are typical spacings for a dense, weed-suppressing result.

Box-free hedging
Box blight has made traditional Buxus hedges hard work in damp Irish summers. Euonymus japonicus 'Green Spire' and Japanese holly (Ilex crenata) give the same neat, clipped evergreen look and aren't affected by box blight, which is why we supply them in bulk packs for low hedges and parterres.

- Stock and timing. For large quantities of one variety we confirm availability before you order. Delivery normally takes 5–8 working days.
- Delivery format. Bulk orders are packed in large plant boxes and sent by tracked courier, so a big order may arrive as several boxes.
- When to plant. Autumn (September–November) and spring (March–May) are ideal in Ireland. Pot-grown plants can go in at other times if they're watered through dry spells.

What size are the plants in bulk packs?
Most packs are young plants in 9 cm pots, around 10–25 cm tall depending on the species. Some hedging packs are in 7 cm pots. Each product page shows the pot size and plant height.
Can I mix varieties in one order?
Yes. Each pack is one variety, but you can combine as many packs as you need in a single order. For a ready-made mix, see our perennial border packages.
