Miscanthus sinensis 'Red Chief' is an upright ornamental grass grown for its reddish plumes and warm autumn colour. It makes a bold, long-lasting feature in sunny borders and large containers.
- Reddish-bronze plumes from late summer
- Green leaves that take on red and orange tones in autumn
- Pack of 24 young plants in 11cm pots, 15-25cm tall as supplied
- Upright, clump-forming habit
- Prefers full sun
- Good for borders, drifts and big pots
Plant in a sunny spot in fertile soil that does not stay waterlogged, and water regularly through the first season. The plumes and stems hold well into winter, so leave them standing and cut the clump back to just above the ground in early spring. Mix with golden or green grasses for a striking contrast.
Supplied as young plants in growing pots, shipped directly from our partner growers. Plants are living products, so size and shape can vary slightly from the photo.
