Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd' is a narrow, upright conifer with bright emerald-green, scale-like foliage held in flat sprays. Its tidy, columnar shape makes it a favourite for slim, formal evergreen hedges and screens.
- Foliage: bright green, scale-like sprays, evergreen
- Naturally narrow, upright habit that needs little shaping
- Supplied as 40 plants in 9cm pots, 20-30cm tall
- Full sun or partial shade
- Suits hedging, screening and dividing garden areas
Plant in well-drained, moisture-retentive soil and water regularly through the first two summers, as young conifers dislike drying out. Space about 40-50cm apart for a hedge. Trim lightly in summer to keep a neat face, and avoid cutting into old bare wood.
Supplied as young plants in growing pots, shipped directly from our partner growers. Plants are living products, so size and shape can vary slightly from the photo.
