Yew (Taxus baccata) is the classic evergreen for formal hedges and topiary. Its dark green, finely textured needles form a dense, even surface that clips cleanly into crisp lines.
- Foliage: dark green needles, evergreen all year
- Slow, steady growth that keeps clipping to a minimum once established
- Supplied as 24 plants in 9cm pots, 20-30cm tall
- Grows in sun, partial shade or shade
- Suits formal hedging, screening and topiary
Plant in well-drained soil and water during dry spells in the first two summers. Space about 30-40cm apart for a hedge and clip in late summer. Yew tolerates hard pruning. Note that the foliage and seeds are poisonous if eaten.
Supplied as young plants in growing pots, shipped directly from our partner growers. Plants are living products, so size and shape can vary slightly from the photo.
