16x Buxus Sempervirens: Classic Evergreen Box for Low Hedges and Topiary
Common box (Buxus sempervirens) is the classic clipped evergreen: small glossy deep-green leaves, dense growth and a tolerance for tight, formal pruning. This pack of 16 young plants in 9cm pots, about 20–25cm tall, suits low hedges, edging, borders and topiary. Plant roughly 5–7 per metre for a low hedge, so this pack covers about 2.5–3 metres.

Growing and care
Plant in well-drained soil; box dislikes waterlogging. Water well while it establishes, feed in spring and clip lightly in late spring and again in late summer, ideally on an overcast day.
Before you buy: box moth and box blight
Common box is susceptible to box blight (a fungal disease) and to the box tree moth, which have damaged many box hedges across Europe. That is not a reason to avoid it, but inspect plants regularly from spring to autumn and act early if you see webbing, caterpillars or browning. If you would rather avoid the risk, see our box-free low hedging alternatives or read the comparison guide.
