Carex Evergold Japanese Sedge 24-Pack | Gold Variegated Evergreen

Carex oshimensis 'Evergold' - Award-Winning Japanese Sedge

Carex oshimensis 'Evergold' is a hardy ornamental grass featuring striking gold foliage with green edges. This variegated Japanese sedge brings year-round color to shady spots where other plants struggle. The arching, grass-like leaves create a cascading fountain effect that adds texture and movement to any garden space.

Key Features

This evergreen sedge maintains its attractive appearance throughout all seasons, making it a reliable choice for continuous garden interest. The creamy-gold center stripe contrasts beautifully with dark green margins, creating an eye-catching display in borders, rock gardens, and containers. Winner of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit, 'Evergold' has proven its garden worthiness through years of testing.

Growing 10-25cm tall with a compact, clumping habit, this Japanese sedge works perfectly as ground cover, edging along pathways, or as a spiller in mixed containers. Unlike many sedges that prefer wet conditions, 'Evergold' thrives in moderate to slightly dry soil, making it adaptable to various garden situations.

Growing Conditions

Carex oshimensis 'Evergold' performs best in partial to full shade, though it tolerates some morning sun in cooler climates. It prefers well-drained soil and moderate moisture levels. Hardy in zones 5-9, this low-maintenance grass requires minimal care beyond occasional tidying in early spring. The deer-resistant foliage remains attractive without heavy feeding or frequent watering once established.

This ornamental grass attracts beneficial insects while remaining resistant to most pests and diseases. Its fine-textured leaves soften hard edges in formal designs and blend seamlessly into informal garden settings. The compact size makes it ideal for small spaces, container gardens, and areas where larger grasses would overwhelm.

Bulk Pack Advantage

This 24-plant pack offers excellent value for creating instant impact in your landscape. Space plants 18-24 inches apart for ground cover applications, or use them throughout borders and beds for consistent texture and color.
