Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald Gaiety' - Variegated Evergreen Ground Cover
The Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald Gaiety' is a hardy, versatile evergreen shrub featuring distinctive silver-variegated foliage that adds year-round interest to any garden. This bulk pack of 60 plants provides excellent value for larger landscaping projects, hedge planting, or extensive ground cover applications.
Plant Specifications
Each plant arrives at a height of 10-25cm in a 9cm diameter growing pot, ready for immediate planting. The compact size makes establishment quick and straightforward, with plants adapting rapidly to their new environment.
Key Features & Growing Characteristics
This Euonymus variety displays beautiful green leaves with creamy-white margins that develop pink tinges in colder months. The variegated foliage creates striking visual contrast in borders, making it an excellent choice for adding texture and light to darker garden areas.
Exceptionally adaptable, 'Emerald Gaiety' thrives in any soil type and tolerates both full sun and full shade positions. This flexibility makes it ideal for problem areas where other plants struggle. The low-maintenance nature requires minimal intervention once established.
Landscaping Applications
Ground Cover: Plant 5-7 specimens per square meter for dense, weed-suppressing coverage that spreads steadily without becoming invasive.
Low Hedging: Space plants 20-30cm apart to create formal or informal hedges up to 60cm tall. Responds well to trimming and shaping.
Border Edging: The compact growth habit and attractive foliage make this an excellent choice for defining garden beds and pathways.
Container Planting: Works beautifully in larger containers and window boxes, providing year-round structure.
Care Requirements
Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Once established, this drought-tolerant plant requires minimal watering except during extended dry periods. Feed annually in spring with a balanced fertilizer for optimal growth and foliage color.
Prune lightly in spring to maintain shape and encourage bushy growth. Remove any all-green shoots that may occasionally appear to preserve the variegated character.
