Isotoma fluviatilis 'Alba' - White Star Creeper Ground Cover

Isotoma fluviatilis 'Alba' is a stunning ground cover plant with delicate white flowers. This hardy plant grows quickly, forming a dense mat of vibrant green foliage. Perfect for borders, ground covers, or container planting. It thrives in partially shaded to lightly sunny spots, adding a fresh touch to any garden.

Key Features

This evergreen perennial ground cover creates a flat carpet of small starry white flowers above a dense mat of fine-textured green foliage. Growing 10-25cm in height, the white star creeper spreads to form excellent coverage across garden beds, pathways, and containers. The star-shaped white blooms appear from late spring into late summer, providing months of visual interest.

Growth Characteristics

Isotoma fluviatilis 'Alba' features a low-growing, spreading habit with a moderate growth rate. The plant tolerates foot traffic well, making it ideal for planting along pathways and between paving stones. This 40-pack bulk quantity provides excellent value for larger landscaping projects, allowing you to establish ground cover across sizeable areas efficiently.

Planting and Care

This low-maintenance plant grows best in sunny to partly shady locations with consistently moist, well-draining soil. It tolerates a wide range of soil types, including clay, sandy, and rocky soils. The Ø9cm pot size ensures the plants are ready for immediate planting. While deadheading isn't necessary, a shearing to about 1-inch tall in late fall helps maintain a tidy appearance through winter.

Versatile Garden Applications

White star creeper excels in multiple garden settings. Use it for underplanting beneath larger shrubs, erosion control on slopes, filling gaps between stepping stones, or as a lawn alternative in moderate climates. It also performs beautifully in rock gardens, borders, and container combinations. The dense foliage provides natural weed suppression while creating a lush, carpet-like appearance.
