Cornus canadensis - Canadian Dogwood Ground Cover Plants
Cornus canadensis, also known as Canadian dogwood or bunchberry, is a low-growing ground cover that forms a dense carpet of glossy green leaves. This pack contains 20 plants, each 10-25cm in height, supplied in 9cm diameter pots.
White Flowers and Red Berries
In late spring to midsummer, this plant produces charming white flowers with four distinctive white bracts surrounding tiny yellowish-green blooms. By late summer, clusters of bright red berries appear, adding seasonal interest to your garden and providing food for birds.
Ideal for Shady Gardens
Cornus canadensis thrives in partial to full shade, making it perfect for woodland gardens, under trees, or along shaded pathways. The plant prefers moist, acidic to neutral, well-drained soil with organic matter. Once established, it spreads via underground rhizomes to create a lush, carpet-like effect.
Attracts Pollinators and Wildlife
This ground cover attracts butterflies, bees, and other beneficial pollinators to your garden. The bright red berries are eaten by birds, making it valuable for wildlife. The plant is also deer and rabbit resistant.
Year-Round Garden Interest
With its evergreen qualities, Cornus canadensis keeps your garden vibrant throughout the year. The glossy foliage turns wine-red to purple in fall, providing additional color before winter. Growing just 6-8 inches high, it creates a refined ground cover without overwhelming other plants.
