Stipa Tenuissima 'Ponytails' - Graceful Ornamental Grass

The Stipa tenuissima 'Ponytails' is a fine-haired ornamental grass that adds texture and movement to garden spaces. This hardy perennial grass features delicate, hair-like foliage that sways gracefully in the breeze, creating a soft, naturalistic effect in borders, rock gardens, and contemporary planting schemes.

Flowering Period and Characteristics

From May to September, this ornamental grass produces soft white plumes that emerge above the foliage, adding vertical interest and a light, airy quality to plantings. The fine texture of both the foliage and flower heads creates a distinctive appearance that works well as a contrast plant alongside broader-leaved perennials or as a mass planting for textural impact.

Growing Conditions and Maintenance

Stipa tenuissima 'Ponytails' thrives best in full sun positions, making it an excellent choice for sunny borders and Mediterranean-style gardens. This grass is notably low-maintenance once established, requiring minimal intervention throughout the growing season.
