Leptinella Squalida - Low-Growing Evergreen Groundcover (48-Pack)
Leptinella squalida, commonly known as Brass Buttons, is a low-growing evergreen groundcover that forms dense, lush mats in shaded and moist areas. This 48-pack provides excellent coverage for challenging garden spaces where traditional plants struggle to thrive.
Plant Specifications
Each plant reaches 10-25cm in height and is supplied in 9cm growing pots. The fine, fern-like foliage creates a textured carpet that remains green throughout the year in most climates. This New Zealand native spreads naturally to fill gaps and create continuous coverage.
Ideal Growing Conditions
Thrives in shaded locations with moist, well-draining soil. Perfect for planting under trees, along pathway edges, or in corners where other plants fail. The shallow root system adapts to various soil types, though it performs best in organically rich soil with consistent moisture.
Versatile Garden Applications
Excellent for filling spaces between stepping stones and pavers, as it tolerates light foot traffic. Works beautifully as groundcover in rock gardens, fairy gardens, and woodland settings. The dense mat formation effectively suppresses weeds while providing year-round visual interest.
Bulk Pack Benefits
This 48-plant pack offers efficient coverage for larger areas or multiple garden zones. Space plants 9-12 inches apart for quick, uniform coverage. The bulk quantity is ideal for landscaping projects, garden transformations, or creating extensive groundcover beds.
Low-Maintenance Care
Once established, requires minimal maintenance beyond regular watering during dry periods. The evergreen foliage maintains its appearance throughout the seasons, though it may show bronze tints in autumn. No mowing required, making it an excellent alternative to traditional lawn in shaded areas.
Please note: Plants are living products and may therefore differ from the photo and description. Minor natural imperfections can occur. These often recover in your garden. These plants are vigorous and long-lasting. They are supplied in growing pots and are shipped directly from our partner growers.
