Lythrum salicaria, commonly known as purple loosestrife, is a vigorous, upright-growing perennial with tall flower spikes covered in bright pink to purple blooms throughout summer. This native plant is ideal for moist borders, pond edges, and naturalistic gardens, where it provides long-lasting color and a wild, natural look. Lythrum salicaria prefers a sunny position and moist to wet soil, is low-maintenance, and fully hardy. It is also highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
