Thymus vulgaris, also known as common thyme, is a compact, evergreen herbaceous plant with aromatic green leaves and small lilac to purple flowers that bloom in late spring and early summer. This versatile plant is ideal for herb gardens, sunny borders, rock gardens, and as a fragrant ground cover. Thymus vulgaris performs best in a sunny position in well-drained, lime-rich soil. It is low-maintenance, drought-tolerant, fully hardy, and attractive to bees and butterflies.
