Liatris spicata, also known as blazing star or gayfeather, is a striking perennial with upright flower spikes covered in purple-pink blooms that open from the top down. This unique flowering habit makes it a real eye-catcher in borders, prairie-style plantings, and natural gardens. Liatris spicata prefers a sunny position and well-drained soil, is low-maintenance, and fully hardy. It also attracts bees and butterflies and adds vertical structure and long-lasting summer color to the garden.
