Aloe Vera is the classic windowsill succulent — thick, fleshy leaves fan out in a sculptural rosette, each one holding the clear gel that has made aloe a familiar name on cosmetics shelves. This large specimen (Ø19cm pot, 70cm tall) provides immediate impact as a floor or shelf plant. Sun loving, drought tolerant, and very low maintenance.
Why People Love Aloe
- Thick, fleshy leaves fan out into a bold rosette — a genuinely sculptural houseplant
- Each leaf holds the clear gel that has made aloe a familiar name on cosmetics and skincare shelves
- One of the world's most widely grown succulents, with over 6,000 years of recorded cultivation
- Extremely drought tolerant — it forgives a forgotten watering can better than almost any plant
Care Guide
- Light: Full sun to bright indirect light — south or west-facing window ideal
- Watering: Allow soil to dry out fully between waterings; reduce to once every 3–4 weeks in winter
- Soil: Free-draining cactus or succulent compost; roots must not sit in water
- Temperature: 15–27°C; keep above 10°C in winter; thrives indoors year round with good light
- Feeding: Light feed with cactus fertiliser once or twice during summer
Important: Aloe Vera is sold as an ornamental houseplant and is not intended for consumption. The plant is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested — keep it out of reach of pets. For pet-friendly plants, see our Pet Safe Plants collection.
