Ajuga reptans 'Burgundy Glow' - Creeping Bugleweed Ground Cover
Ajuga reptans 'Burgundy Glow' is a fast-spreading ground cover plant that provides excellent coverage for shaded areas in your garden. This pack includes 48 plants, each measuring 10-25cm in height and supplied in 9cm diameter pots, ready for immediate planting.
Plant Characteristics
The 'Burgundy Glow' variety features distinctive leathery leaves in a stunning mix of burgundy, cream, and green variegation. This low-growing perennial spreads quickly to form dense mats of foliage, making it highly effective for ground coverage. From May through June, the plants produce spikes of blue flowers that attract pollinators, particularly bees, adding vertical interest to the horizontal spread.
Growing Conditions
Ajuga reptans thrives in partial shade to full shade conditions, making it an excellent solution for those difficult areas under trees or along shaded borders where other plants struggle. This creeping bugleweed tolerates nearly all soil types, demonstrating remarkable adaptability to various garden conditions. Once established, it requires minimal maintenance and care.
Practical Garden Benefits
This ground cover excels at weed suppression by forming dense coverage that prevents unwanted plants from establishing. The spreading growth habit also makes it valuable for erosion control on slopes and banks. The 48-plant pack provides sufficient coverage for larger areas or multiple garden zones.
