Astrantia major, commonly known as Great Masterwort, is a charming perennial instantly recognized by its delicate, star-shaped flower heads. These intricate blooms – formed by papery bracts in shades of white, pink or soft red – appear from early summer well into late summer, bringing a romantic and natural elegance to any garden. This hardy, adaptable plant thrives in sun to partial shade and works beautifully in borders, cottage gardens and naturalistic plantings. Astrantia major also attracts bees and butterflies, enriching the garden with life and movement.
